The National Association of Realtors’ Realtors Confidence Index is based on a survey which asked respondents for their opinions, views, and observations about the current and future real-estate market. According to the most recent release, the NAR found Realtors in a more optimistic mood than the previous month. In fact, the shift was significant. For example, the share of participants who said they believe there will be a year-over-year increase in buyer traffic in the next three months rose from 22 percent to 31 percent. Similarly, there was a 10 percent increase in respondents who said they expect an increase in home sellers over last year’s level. But while the survey found an increasing number of participants who believe this year’s buyer and seller activity will beat last year’s, not much else has changed. The share of first-time buyers, all-cash sales, properties that sold above list price, and average number of offers were all nearly identical to where they were one month and one year earlier.
